Designed by Ghent-based visual artist Luca Beel, this series of hand-made concrete fruit bowls caught Orlanda’s eye. The exclusive collection, entitled “Luca Bowls”, is a reflection of the designer’s experimentation with composition, colour, granulate and texture.
Each bowl is handmade by Luca Beel herself. What makes her creations so special is the hard work she puts into them. From the polishing (a 4 hour process) to the moulding, the designer spends countless hours to obtain this very specific shape.
The compositions and textures are achieved with the scraping of the coatings and the use of special stones like the labrador spar - a specimen of the mineral labradorite – or even marbles. Both delicate and timeless, the “Luca Bowls” bring a refined touch to an interior.
With these creations, Luca Beel expresses her passion for furniture and design but her main activity remains photography. She completed her studies at the School of Arts is Ghent and is now working as a freelance photographer, with a main focus on architectural photography.
